Behind the Celebrity
At times, I find myself looking at a celebrity and thinking, “Wow, that outfit is amazing. Who came up with that?”
This usually leads me down a rabbit hole looking up who their stylist is and asking myself. Where did they get the pieces ,and what inspires them?
With that, I want to share a stylist that has recently caught my eye.
Who is Simone?
Simone Beyenem, a London-based stylist, has worked with artists like Olivia Dean and Mabel,just to name a few.
Getting to know Simone as a stylist has been incredibly interesting.
In an interview with Dazed, she was asked about balancing fashion trends and aesthetics. Her answer made me rethink the way I view aesthetics and trends in everyday life.
Simone explained that it’s all about how good an outfit makes you feel. It’s also about creating your own interpretation and adapting it to yourself.
Personally, I struggle with following trends or trying to find an aesthetic that fits me. But I love the idea of taking parts that work for me, and ones that make me feel confident and happy. It’s about using trends like inspiration rather than step-by-step instructions.
In the same interview Simone mentioned that storytelling plays a huge role when it comes to styling.
Again, this made me think of ways I can work on my own style. What story do I want to tell with my outfits? There are so many elements to focus on that could help you build a story. In Simone’s case she looks at music, focusing on what the sound would look like visually.
